Our Mission:

Love God, Love People, Make Jesus Known

At NorthField Church we exist to love God, love people, and make Jesus known.

This comes from the very words of Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40,

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." and Matthew 28:18-19,

"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that the way we love God is directly connected to the way we love people.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:23-24, "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."

We take that to mean that it matters just as much to God how you treat people as to how you worship so we made it our mission to put just as much emphasis on the way that we love people as we put on worshipping God.

Jesus' final words to His followers in Matthew 28 was not just another command, but it was the birth of a new movement. As Christ followers it is our mission to continue that movement of making the name of Jesus known in all of the earth. We want to make the name of Jesus known here in Sumner County and throughout the ends of the earth.

what we believe

About God

There is one God, who has existed eternally in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He created us. He loves us. He pursues us. He chose us. He longs for us to choose Him. He has a plan for our lives. (Genesis 1:1, Romans 8, Ephesians 1, Psalm 90, I Peter 1:2, II Corinthians 13:14)

About Jesus

Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, God’s anointed. He is the Son of God and at the same time, He is God. He came to earth to offer himself for our sin and although He was killed, He defeated death by coming back to life when God raised Him. He ascended to heaven where He now sits at the right hand of God. He is coming back to claim those who have given their lives to Him. (Matthew 1, Isaiah 9, John 1, Romans 1, Acts 1)

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with God the Father and God the Son. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit lives in us. His presence in this world convicts people of their need for Jesus. Because He lives in us, He is able to comfort and to lead us. He gives us the power to live for God. He brings us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness. He is our guarantee that God has not forgotten us. (II Corinthians 3, John 14, John 16, Acts 1, I Corinthians 2, Galatians 5, Ephesians 5)

About You

God loves you! You were made to be with Him forever, never separated, never apart. That was God’s dream. You have always been on His mind; in fact the Bible says He created you in His image. He knows your name. Your sin separated you from God and His dream for you, yet God did not give up on you. To save you God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you. He has always wanted an intimate relationship with you and has done everything He can to make that possible. (John 3, Genesis 1, Psalm 8, Isaiah 53, Romans 3, Isaiah 59)

About the Bible

The Bible is God’s word to all people. It was written by more than 40 men and women who wrote as God directed them. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any error. It is our final authority in our understanding of God and life. It tells us the amazing plan of how much God loves us and how far He was willing to go to make sure we could live with Him forever. (II Timothy 3, II Peter 1, Proverbs 30, Psalm 119)

About Salvation

God sent His Son, Jesus, to offer His sinless life as the payment for our sin. Salvation by His grace is a free gift from God. We receive and express this gift through our faith in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross. It is seen in our lives through confession and repentance. (I Corinthians 15, Romans 1, Ephesians 2, Romans 10, John 3, Acts 2)

About the Church

Many people refer to a building as a ‘church,’ yet the church is actually God’s people. Jesus created the church when He redeemed us from sin by dying on the cross. The church is Christ's body on this earth. God adds people to His church when they accept His Son Jesus as their savior. The Holy Spirit empowers the Church (us!) to reach out to those who don’t know Christ. That’s our job…our mission as His church. (Ephesians 4)

About Forever

God created us to live forever. You were made…for forever. The Bible teaches that how you live now will determine where you live forever. Jesus is coming back and He will take all those who have accepted Him to our forever home, to live with God. It is the day He will make all things new. (I Thessalonians 4, I John 3, John 3, Romans 6, Revelation 20)
